Question: Can a daughter in any situation give Zakat to her mother?
Answer: The basic ruling regarding Zakat is that children, whether daughters or sons, cannot give Zakat to their parents. However, there can be situations where the children have nothing else to give to their parents except Zakat. In such cases, children can give Zakat to their parents, especially since most women do not have money other than Zakat.
Women usually pay Zakat on their jewelry, and apart from Zakat, they do not have additional money. Therefore, in a situation of necessity, they can give this Zakat to their parents. However, women who have their own business or are employed should help their parents from their primary wealth.
