69th-73rd Lesson from the Book of Tawheed by Shaykhul-Islaam Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhaab

بســـم اللــه الرحــمــن الـرحـــيــم

From the commentary on the Book of Tawheed by Shaykhul-Islaam Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhaab may Allaah have mercy on him, 69th-73rd, Lesson,

By Shaykh, the ‘Allāmah, the Trustworthy Advisor, Abu ‘Abdirrahmān Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajūri – may Allāh preserve him – on the 20th, Dhul-Hijjah, 1443H

Chapter: The statement of Allaah:

(إِنَّمَا ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمْ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ) 

"That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers." 

[Al-Imraan: 175] 

And His statement: 

(إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۖ فَعَسَىٰٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَن يَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ) 

"The Masaajid of Allaah h are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allaah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give Zakaah and do not fear except Allaah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided."

[At-Taubah: 18] 

And His statement:

(وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ فَإِذَآ أُوذِىَ فِى ٱللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ ٱلنَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَئِن جَآءَ نَصْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمْۚ أَوَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِمَا فِى صُدُورِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ) 

"And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allaah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allaah, he considers the trial [i.e., harm] of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allaah."

[Al-‘Ankabut: 10] 

And From Abi Sa’eed may Allaah be pleased with him Marfoo’ said: 

إن من ضعف اليقين أن ترضي الناس بسخط الله، وأن تحمدهم على رزق الله، وأن تذمهم على ما لم يؤتك الله، إن رزق الله لا يجره حرص حريص، ولا يرده كراهية كاره

"Surely front the weakest of the certainty is to please the people at [expense of] the anger of Allaah, and to praise them upon provision (which is) from Allaah, and to blame them for what Allaah did not t give you, verily the provisions of Allaah are not gained by the earnestness of the earnest, nor is it repelled by the displeasure of the displeased."

And from Aa’ishah may Allaah be pleased with her: That the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:

من التمس رضى الله بسخط الناس رضي الله عنه وأرضى عنه الناس؛ ومن التمس رضى الناس بسخط الله سخط الله عليه وأسخط عليه الناس” رواه ابن حبان في صحيحه.

 "Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allaah at the displeasure of the people, Allaah will be pleased with him and make the people pleased with him; and whoever seeks the pleasure of the people at the displeasure of Allaah, Allaah will be displeased with him and make the people displeased with him."

[Reported by Ibn Hibbaan in his Sahih] 

In it are Masaa’il (topics):

The First: Tafseer of the verse of Aal-‘Imraan.

The Second: Tafseer of the verse of Al-Baraa’ah.

The Third: Tafseer of the verse of Al-Ankaboot.

The Fourth: That certainty weakens and strengthens.

The Fifth: The sign if it’s weakness, and front that these three.

The Sixth: That singling fear of Allaah is from the obligations.

The Seventh: Mentioning the reward for the one that does that.

The Eighth: Mentioning the punishment of the one who leaves it.
