A Few Statements of Salman Nadwi Regarding the Noble Sahaba
This is not a detailed refutation, nor is it a critical review of Nadwi Sahib’s Shia, Sufi, and Kharijite beliefs and ideologies. Rather, it is a small sample of his insolent and disrespectful remarks against the noble Sahaba. In reality, if one observes, every single one of his speeches is filled with criticism of the Sahaba and material that casts doubt on their justice (‘Adalah) and faith.
Maulana says: “They say he was a Kaatib-e-Wahi. It is a challenge to the entire Ummah, my challenge is to prove that he wrote even one verse of the Quran.
It is proven from authentic narrations that after the conquest of Makkah, he and his father accepted Islam—it was only an apparent Islam. His father said to the Prophet ﷺ that the Muslims consider us untouchables, Shudras. No one sits near us, no one mixes with us; when we come, they get up and leave. They have made us untouchables. Therefore, kindly give us some work. My son knows how to write.
So the Prophet said, ‘Fine, if there is any need, I will get something written.’ Now these vile, lying, deceitful, fraudulent Molvis claim he was Kaatib-e-Wahi. By then revelation had already stopped descending; there were no more verses of the Quran left that needed to be written. The Prophet had given him 100 camels so that he may graze them and die doing so, and his evil stays away from us.
So when the need arose to get something written, Abdullah ibn Abbas was sent once. There is a Sahih Hadith that the Prophet was calling him, but he said, ‘Tell him I am eating.’ Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas came back to the Prophet and informed him that he is eating. The Prophet waited 15-20 minutes, saying let him finish eating, then sent Abdullah ibn Abbas again to call him.
When Abdullah ibn Abbas went the second time and said the Prophet is waiting, he again replied, ‘Tell him I am eating.’ Abdullah ibn Abbas returned. Now the Prophet’s anger was intensifying—he had called him twice and more than half an hour had passed, yet he says he is eating.
The Prophet waited another 15-20 minutes and sent him again. When nearly an hour had passed, Abdullah ibn Abbas arrived for the third time and got the same reply that he is eating. When Abdullah ibn Abbas conveyed this the third time to the Prophet ﷺ, completely contrary to his habit—the Prophet’s ﷺ habit was of extreme kindness—he became so extremely angry at this untouchable, this Shudra, this corrupt man that he said: ‘لا أشبع الله بطنه’ (May Allah never fill his stomach).
So it is proven in all authentic narrations that his stomach was never filled his entire life. He would eat seven times a day and say he gets tired of eating but his stomach does not get full. The Prophet’s curse was accepted regarding him. Those who narrate virtues about him are such liars, such deceitful, such vile people whose wickedness knows no bounds.
The great Muhadditheen—whether Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Imam Ishaq ibn Rahawayh, Imam Hakim, or Imam Abdur Razzaq—all the Imams are unanimous that not even one Hadith is narrated about him [in his favor]. Imam Nasa’i was martyred for revealing this truth.
Therefore, those scoundrels who were born in this era and before, and who are busy defending and presenting justifications for this oppressor, murderer, and criminal—by Allah, they are preparing their own Hell and are waiting for the angels to beat them in Barzakh. When the angels whip them and hammer them, they will say: you were supporting the murderer.
Did the Quran not say that whoever kills even one believer is a permanent inhabitant of Hell? So that scoundrel, that criminal and vile person who killed great Sahaba, who killed Ahl al-Bayt, who killed great Tabi’een, who took pride in it, and established an oppressive rule, and who was a caller to Hell—the shameless and immodest offspring of Satan are busy defending him, kindling their own Hell. Remember well, the Quran speaks plainly, it speaks without bias. When the language of the Quran is spoken, the truth will be revealed, everything will come out openly. And those who turn away from the Quran and make false interpretations are Jahannamis, criminals, and vile.
This Ummah must be vigilant because such scoundrels have spread who call themselves Ahlus Sunnah and praise the killers of the Prophet. The Prophet had said that whoever separates from Ali has separated from me; whoever fights Ali fights me; whoever abuses Ali abuses me.
For 60 years on the pulpits, those scoundrels who abused Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib—there is no doubt about their being Jahannami. They used to abuse the Prophet, they fought against the Prophet, and the Prophet had declared that whoever has hatred for Ali is a hypocrite. The Prophet had announced: recognize who separates from Ali—he will be a hypocrite.
These are the facts that the Quran is stating. Now if someone does not accept the Quran, is stubborn, a scoundrel, obstinate, whose teacher is Satan and who is a disciple of Iblees—there is no cure for him, only Allah will deal with him.
Anyway, in today’s lesson there is mention of unintentional killing and intentional killing (Amd means killing intentionally), and I have told that Abu Bakr Siddiq killed Sahaba, countless Sahaba, because they had become rebels. Ali killed those who were rebels, and those rebels killed Sahaba, Tabi’een, and Ahl al-Bayt because they were oppressors and callers to Hell.
And the Prophet also stated this, so should the Prophet’s words be thrown back at his face? Scoundrels who call themselves Ahlus Sunnah. Killers of the Sunnah, killers of the Prophet—not just insolent to the Prophet, but those who tear apart the Prophet’s liver and riddle his chest—those fraudulent Ahlus Sunnah who are not just Nasibis, but great criminals, murderers, and Jahannamis.
The Quran says the same about them, the Ahadith say the same, but there is a herd that has been led astray. A herd of madmen, a herd of lunatics, a herd of hypocrites; if any believer gets trapped in this herd, they pounce on him. Oh collection of Satans and all those connected to Iblees, his students and lackeys, they oppose those who speak the words of the Prophet and the Quran.
Because their ideologies break, their Ibleesi system breaks, their Dajjali system breaks, and that is why they give their lives in its defense. One should understand the facts well, and every Muslim should memorize these verses, learn them by heart so that nothing else can be said. Only the word of the Quran will prevail and that will be final and decisive.
Whoever kills even one believer is a permanent Jahannami forever, and whoever is the killer of Sahaba, killer of Ahl al-Bayt, killer of Tabi’een—oh, from him Qisas will be taken thousands of times. His every limb will be cut into pieces. He will be punished in Hell forever and ever. This is what the Quran says—no Mullah says it, no Mufti says it.
So that Mufti who speaks contrary to this. That Mulla who speaks contrary to this. Remember well that he is a student of Iblees and offspring of Satan. Nothing more than that.”
The agreed-upon belief of the Salaf Saliheen and Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah is that all the noble Sahaba (رضوان الله عليهم أجمعين) are just (‘Adil). Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (رضي الله عنه) is a great companion, scribe of revelation, and maternal uncle of the believers (Khal al-Mu’mineen). Calling him “untouchable,” “Shudra,” “scoundrel,” and “vile” is clear Rafd, deviation, and an open insult to the companionship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Distorting the meaning of Ahadith to humiliate a Sahabi, and calling the righteous scholars who defend him “offspring of Satan” and “court Molvis,” is actually the methodology of the Khawarij and Sabaites. One who attacks and slanders the Sahaba is in fact attacking the foundations of the religion of Islam, because these are the very personalities through whom the religion reached us.
He says: “There was a big debate that Maulana called Muawiyah Pharaoh!
Look at this book, it is a thick book, consisting of hundreds of pages, and its author is a great Muhaddith, Allamah Hasan bin Farhan Maliki, who is from Saudi Arabia.
… This book of Allamah Hasan bin Farhan Maliki—on the Hadith ‘معاویہ فرعونُ الأمۃ’ (Muawiyah is the Pharaoh of the Ummah)—contains extensive research, and his conclusion is that this Hadith is Sahih, or at least Hasan in its grading.
He has presented multiple evidences for it, discussed the narrators brilliantly; because Hasan bin Farhan has deep insight into both the texts of Hadith and their chains of transmission. He has also conducted comparative studies.
And especially because he has refuted the Salafis, a storm has been raised against him. Otherwise, there is no doubt that as far as the virtues of Hazrat Ali and Ahl al-Bayt are concerned, and the tyrannical, oppressive aspects of the rebels—he is an expert in them, a specialist in them.
I will tell the students: This book is published by Dar al-Mahjah al-Bayda’, you can download it from the net, you must read this book. And this Hadith is Sahih, or at least Hasan.
And he has detailed the transmission routes of this Hadith extensively, examined them, and conducted excellent research—not just theological discussion but Muhaddith-level research.
Therefore, it should be read, the research should be kept in front of you. One should not just talk nonsense, scream, and shout. Now obviously, those who abused Hazrat Ali, who poisoned Hazrat Husayn, who martyred Hazrat Husayn, whoever follows their path, everything can be expected from them.
And we do not know when Allah’s punishment will descend on them, but just as Allah’s punishment came upon Bani Umayyah, and then there was the army of Khorasan, which picked them one by one and finished Bani Umayyah; the army of Khorasan. This same army of Khorasan is mentioned in the Ahadith; it will be with Imam Mahdi, who will finish the Nasibis one by one, Insha Allah.”
Hasan bin Farhan Maliki is a well-known misguided person whose ideas are filled with Shi’ism and Mu’tazilism. Calling a great companion the “Pharaoh of the Ummah” is a sign of the worst hatred and Zindiqiyyah. According to the Salaf, whoever disparages the Sahaba is misguided, a Zindiq, and an innovator. Promoting such false and rejected narrations by calling them “Hasan” or “Sahih,” and rejoicing at the refutation of Salafi scholars, shows that this person is completely devoid of academic integrity and is a follower of the Iranian and Sabai agenda.
Moreover, saying that “the army of Khorasan will be with Imam Mahdi, who will finish the Nasibis one by one” is actually the perfection of Rafidi influence. This is the Imam Mahdi of the Rawafid, about whom their belief is that he will dig out Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman from their graves and kill them, will impose Hadd on Hazrat Aisha Siddiqah, and will carry out a massacre of Sunnis.

He further says: “They pretend to be very innocent and say, ‘Brother! Yazeed was like this, he was like that.’ Who raised Yazeed? Who nurtured him? In whose house was the buying and selling of wine done? I have already explained this in great detail with the quotes of major scholars and Muhadditheen. That in Muawiyah’s house wine was bought and sold. In Muawiyah’s house interest was permissible. In Muawiyah’s house silk clothes were worn. In Muawiyah’s house the necks of Sahaba were cut. In Muawiyah’s house Hazrat Ali was abused. Hazrat Fatima, the leader of the women of Paradise, was abused. Husayn and Hasan were murdered, threatened, and showered with abuses. It was that house where all this happened. And I have already explained in detail that when the head of Hazrat Husayn and the heads of others were brought to Yazeed’s court, he proudly recited this poetry:
‘If only my ancestors who were chopped and thrown in Badr by Ali were here, if only they were here they would be happy that I have taken revenge from the family of Muhammad.'”

He says: “This belief that has been fabricated (i.e., that all Sahaba are just) is a false belief, and it has been imposed upon Ahlus Sunnah through embellishment. The statements of the Sahaba are completely contrary to it. Read their statements, for example, of Hazrat Hudhayfah, of Hazrat Ammar, of Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas, of Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib, and then moving forward, of Hazrat Hasan and Hazrat Husayn; read their statements, they are the ones representing (the truth).
The Mulla-Molvis who came later, who became the present courtiers of Bani Umayyah and their government Molvis, who remained under their pressure; among whom the most famous Sahabi with 5000 Ahadith is Abu Hurairah, his condition is that he “rolled up” half the Ahadith. Now this sentence should not sound bad. He himself says, and Bukhari narrates it, that ‘I took two treasures from the Holy Prophet ﷺ, one I have told you, the other I have not told; because if I tell it, my neck will be cut.’ Who will cut it? In whose era was he?
Obviously, at that time only Muawiyah had the power to cut necks; because he was the ruler. So it is known that it was an oppressive government, there was fear of it, and the Amirs were oppressors.
So he left out a large treasure of Ahadith. This is his own statement, now if he had narrated those Ahadith, how good it would have been! The work that Mahdi will come and do later would have been done at that time. So the Prophet ﷺ narrated the Ahadith, does anyone have the right to hide the Prophet’s Ahadith? The Prophet informs about fitnahs and battles and then after that some group says ‘this topic should not be touched’, conversations regarding the disputes should not be held; this is deception, this is fraud, this is a lie.”
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) is the greatest and most authentic source of Ahadith for the Ummah. Accusing him of being a government Molvi, hiding Ahadith, and cowardice is a direct attack on the protection and foundation of the religion, which is purely the tactic of Orientalists and Rawafid.
“Imam Dhahabi and other Muhadditheen say that Hazrat Aisha Siddiqah used to recite Qunut Nazilah in her prayer, taking the names of Muawiyah and Amr bin al-As, and curse them.“

He says: “Our dear ones, our students, our companions, who listen to us, whenever something happens, when the propaganda machinery of the Nasibis, criminals, and scoundrels becomes active, they get worried: oh, this happened, that happened, Maulana you said such a thing. So anyway, I explain to them, I tell them, just wait a little.
Do not be affected by their propaganda. This is Satanic propaganda, Nasibi propaganda, the propaganda of rebels. They have not spared Abu Bakr, nor Umar, nor Uthman, nor Ali. These are people who are lackeys of rulers, agents of Satan, and when something happens over in the Arabian Peninsula, when it is distorted, and Zionist bases are established, and women’s hijab is removed, and centers of obscenity are set up in the regions of the people of Thamud and Lut, they become blind, deaf, and dumb. These small-time, worthless Molvis become as if no incident has occurred.
…In my speech, mention was made of a Hadith of Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) from which the situation of that era can be understood… He states that I took two treasures of knowledge from the Holy Prophet ﷺ. One treasure I spread, made common, told you, and the other treasure is such that if I spread it, publish it, my neck will be cut.
…So the era was that of Mr. Muawiyah. In that era, because the rule was oppressive (Mulk ‘Uhood), this is the saying of the Prophet, not ours or yours. When the Holy Prophet ﷺ is stating this and Abu Hurairah knows that this is the statement of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and he knows that if I tell it by taking names, these murderers will kill me, just as they killed so many others, killed the Sahaba of Badr, killed the Sahaba of Hudaybiyyah, killed Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr and then put his body in a donkey’s skin and set it on fire.
When Hazrat Aisha Siddiqah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) came to know what was done to her brother, Imam Dhahabi and other Muhadditheen say that Hazrat Aisha Siddiqah used to recite Qunut Nazilah in her prayer taking the names of Muawiyah and Amr bin al-As, she used to curse them. Our Muhadditheen are writing this. This narration is not from any outsider; it is a narration from the great Muhadditheen of our own house.
The crime committed against Hazrat Hujr bin Adi and six Sahaba, that they were told to curse Ali, when they were not ready for it, their necks were cut. All these facts, obviously, our Imams and Muhadditheen have stated, these are the statements of the Muhadditheen that have been narrated.
So anyway, when I said this, I also said simultaneously that those who were government and court Molvis, meaning those who were appointed to curse Hazrat Ali in Friday sermons, they used to do it, in every mosque of Sham and wherever there was dominance of the oppressive rule, Hazrat Ali was abused there, even in Masjid an-Nabawi Marwan used to curse Hazrat Ali.
This matter is proven by such strong evidences that if denied, it means neither the Seerah of Hazrat Abu Bakr will remain nor that of Hazrat Umar; because whatever biographies exist of Hazrat Uthman, Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Ali, they are indebted to these very books. It is from these very books that we draw the outline of their Seerah. And when these books state these facts which annoy the Nasibis and make them balk, at that time this Hadith, these very narrations and books become unreliable.
Due to Muawiyah’s civil war, millions of people became non-Muslims, millions of people distanced themselves from Islam. The entire Roman region became deprived of Islam, seeing that a civil war is happening. They are killing the trusted people of the Prophet, killing the Sahaba of the Prophet, so hatred of Islam settled in their hearts. The whole of Iran was lost, Khorasan was lost, and all this area of Imam Abu Hanifah’s circle, that was lost.
So obviously this went away as a result of this civil war and the efforts against the Khilafah Rashidah. And then when people saw during Yazeed’s era that the beloved grandson of the Prophet, the leader of the youth of Paradise, and people of his family were being slaughtered in Karbala, countless people developed a hatred for Islam: if this is what Islam teaches, that those who take the name of the Prophet kill the very beloveds of the Prophet, then what is the reliability of such an Islam?
Therefore, the crime of distancing millions of human beings from the truth was committed by these criminals who waged a full-scale war against the Khilafah Rashidah and then imposed someone cursed like Yazeed, due to which countless Muslims were deprived of faith and countless disbelievers stayed away from faith.”
This statement is the worst example of Salman Nadwi’s academic betrayal and distortion of history. Using fabricated and weak historical narrations that Hazrat Aisha (رضي الله عنها) cursed great Sahaba as a foundation, he wants to show division and hatred within the pure group of Sahaba. Proving Hazrat Abu Hurairah as a victim of pressure and describing Hazrat Amir Muawiyah’s (رضي الله عنه) caliphate as terroristic and the cause of the spread of disbelief is pure deception and lies. Presenting the disputes among the Sahaba as a battle between truth and falsehood and declaring one party as oppressors and criminals is open misguidance and contrary to the creed of Ahlus Sunnah.
He says: “In the second year (of Hijrah) came the occasion when the Battle of Badr took place. Now obviously, people were not ready to go to the Battle of Badr. Those who were sincere, true Sahaba, devoted Sahaba, sacrificing Sahaba, only they came sifted through, they were 313. There were only 313 who went out with the Holy Prophet ﷺ and reached Badr, and the rest who remained in Madinah included those who used to say, ‘Brother, they are going into the mouth of death. Only their corpses will return.’
These were the conditions, and this was regarding Badr. I have stated repeatedly that one year later the Battle of Uhud took place. When three thousand disbelievers launched an assault and reached Madinah, the Holy Prophet ﷺ consulted with one thousand Sahaba in Masjid an-Nabawi. And in the consultation, the Prophet himself decided that now we must go out towards the foot of Mount Uhud and fight them there, because the disbelievers’ army was present on its northern side.
So the Prophet ﷺ set out with one thousand Sahaba. They had barely reached halfway when Abdullah ibn Ubayy, who remained the leader of the hypocrites from beginning to end, announced, ‘We will not go, our people should return’. So 300 Sahaba rebelled against the Prophet alongside him, committed treason, deceived him, and returned.
This incident is written in every book of Seerah, this incident is present in every book. Will anyone deny it? Can anyone belie it? Obviously, those who committed this act, who committed treason against the Prophet, were of the same type of people who later were to commit treason against Uthman, commit treason against Ali; among them were the people who later were to martyr Hasan.
All these were criminals and scoundrels who used to see the Prophet morning and evening and also went to the Prophet’s gatherings and also ate the Prophet’s food, but their hearts were black. That is why the Holy Prophet ﷺ did not give details about the open hypocrites but gave signs, however, those who were hidden within their ranks and whom people considered Mullahs, considered Sufis, considered Shaykhs, their names were specifically told to Hazrat Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman, that so-and-so, so-and-so, so-and-so are my hypocrite companions.
Keeping this hidden, this is a secret, not stating it, so that it is known, at least you keep understanding, if there is a need you can tell someone. So Hazrat Umar bin al-Khattab’s (رضي الله تعالى عنه) condition was such, a state of anxiety that he started asking Hazrat Hudhayfah, ‘Hey, my name is not there, is it?’ So Hazrat Hudhayfah reassured him that your name is not there, but from now on I will not tell anyone.
Similarly, the Holy Prophet ﷺ said to Umm al-Mu’mineen Hazrat Umm Salamah (رضي الله تعالى عنها) that ‘Many of my companions will not see me after dying, and I will not see them’, meaning they will be separated from me. So Abdur Rahman bin Awf, on one occasion when he went to meet Hazrat Umm Salamah, she narrated this Hadith, so he became worried, he got anxious wondering who knows which people they will be.
He reached Hazrat Umar and said that Umm Salamah is narrating this Hadith. Hazrat Umar used to remain greatly overwhelmed by the fear of Allah, he kept fearing lest there be some seizing from Allah, so he went to Hazrat Umm Salamah and Hazrat Umar asked Hazrat Umm Salamah, ‘Umm al-Mu’mineen, Mother of the believers! The secret the Prophet has told you, regarding the Sahaba about whom it is said that they will not see me, and I will not see them, am I not among them?’
Hazrat Umm Salamah said you are not, but now I will not tell anyone whose names are included.
These are open matters and that Hadith that the Holy Prophet ﷺ will be at Hawd al-Kawthar and at that time a crowd will be coming whom the angels will be pushing. So the Prophet will say, these are the exact words of authentic narrations, ‘أصحابی، أصحابی’ (My companions, my companions). So the angels will say in reply, ‘O Prophet! You do not know what they did after you. After you, they chopped your beloveds to pieces, riddled their chests. After you, they fought Ali and killed Sahaba and killed Tabi’een. After you, they imposed their cursed son to martyr Husayn. After you, they poisoned your grandson Hasan to death. After you, these are those criminal people for whom there is no room for forgiveness. Their forgiveness cannot happen, therefore they are being pushed away so that they do not wander near Hawd al-Kawthar.’
Obviously, whoever their supporters are, of these oppressors, of these criminals, they will be behind that same crowd, far away. When the condition of the Sahaba ahead will be that they are receiving pushes, then their Tabi’een, their Tabi’een who are with them, who defend them, who speak their language, who talk about them, they will all be in that same crowd whom the angels will push and remove from Hawd al-Kawthar.
…Then Allah says that among them (the Sahaba) there are also people whose condition is that if they get some happiness, get some wealth, gain some benefit, they say yes it is Allah’s grace, it is Allah’s favor, Allah’s grace, Allah’s favor. And if there is any pain, any difficulty comes, any calamity comes, they say na’udhu billah addressing the Prophet, ‘This is from you’, meaning because of your mistakes this happened, that happened. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un! What pain they used to give the Prophet, what grief they used to cause, what kind of things they used to say. So Allah says in reply, ‘قل کل من عند اللہ’. O Prophet! Say that everything is from Allah.
…Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنهما) on one occasion narrated a Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, so the Sahaba who were addressed, they were also Sahabis, they said ‘Abu Bakr says this, Umar said that’, so Abdullah ibn Abbas became completely red with anger and said ‘Ignorant! I am saying the Messenger of Allah said this, and you say Abu Bakr said, Umar said, O criminal your intellect has been killed!’. Obviously, Umar and Abu Bakr were slaves of the Prophet.
Whatever the Prophet says must be accepted, by Abu Bakr too, Umar too, Uthman too, Ali too. By every scholar, by every Wali. Once the Prophet’s statement comes clearly forward, after that to twist and turn, make interpretations, avoid, lie, and present fabricated and false Ahadith against a Sahih Hadith to mislead the public, this is the work of Dajjals. This is the work of the Satans of the time who appear in the form of Mullahs, appear in the form of Sufis, but they are bandits of the Ummah.
So remember this reality, this is the Quran which speaks plainly and openly, speaks about the Sahaba.” …(Here he has quoted many other verses of the Quran regarding hypocrites and applied them to the Sahaba)
“Abu Bakr Siddiq killed Sahaba, countless Sahaba he killed because they had become rebels. Ali killed those who were rebels, and those who were rebels killed Sahaba, Tabi’een, Ahl al-Bayt because they were oppressors and callers to Hell.”
Calling the 300 hypocrites who turned back with Abdullah bin Ubayy at the occasion of the Battle of Uhud “Sahaba” repeatedly is a direct attack on the collective belief of the Muslim Ummah so that doubt can be created regarding the overall justice (‘Adalah) of the Sahaba. The Hadith of Hawd al-Kawthar is about apostates or hypocrites; forcibly applying it to great Sahaba, conquerors, and Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (رضي الله عنه) is the worst deception and open deviation.
Similarly, those against whom Hazrat Abu Bakr fought were not Sahaba but had become apostates.
It seems the individual is either unaware of the term Sahaba or is deliberately engaging in deception so that by making hypocrites and apostates appear as Sahaba, the Ummah is made hateful and averse to the Sahaba and hatred of the Sahaba is planted in their hearts.
When Ahlus Sunnah say “all Sahaba are just,” they do not mean literal companions who stayed with the Prophet but hid disbelief in their hearts; these were hypocrites whom the Quran itself has called hypocrites and condemned, while praising the believing Sahaba and giving them the glad tidings of Paradise… Therefore we also call them hypocrites. A “Sahabi” is a specific technical term that refers to those honored personalities who met the Messenger of Allah in a state of faith and died upon faith.
…The Prophet had given him 100 camels so that he may graze them and die doing so, and his evil stays away from us.”
Similarly, relying on a story, he termed the hypocrites who conspired to martyr the Holy Prophet ﷺ during the occasion of Ghazwah Tabuk as Sahabi, and had the audacity to lay the blame of this heinous conspiracy on the great companion Hazrat Abu Sufyan (رضي الله عنه) and his sons, sending curses upon them.
Maulana Abdul Rauf Farooqi, refuting him, says: “A few days ago, a personality from India, who is introduced and well-known in religious circles, whose name is Syed Salman Husaini Nadwi, I happened to listen to a video statement of his in which he narrated a story regarding Ghazwah Tabuk that the Holy Prophet ﷺ was traveling when he said: ‘Among our fellow travelers and companions there are 12 hypocrites.’ And then quoting Baladhuri he attached the knot to it that those 12 people who were hypocrites, they intended to martyr the Holy Prophet ﷺ during this journey, (but) Allah the Exalted and Glorified kept the Holy Prophet ﷺ safe. Then the individual, probably finding inspiration from Satan, tried to apply it to Hazrat Abu Sufyan and his sons. He did not take the names of those 12 individuals, but included this part of the story or a similar story that three people were riding on a camel; among them one was Abu Sufyan (رضي الله عنه), one his son behind him, and one his son in front of him, and the Prophet ﷺ said about them that: ‘These three persons riding the camel, may Allah’s curse be upon them.'”
Hazrat Abu Sufyan (رضي الله عنه) is a companion of the Prophet, and his accepting Islam after the conquest of Makkah and the Holy Prophet’s ﷺ affection toward him is definitively proven from authentic Ahadith. Fabricating this vile allegation against him that he conspired to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ is a pure slander and the result of false and rejected narrations forged by Shia narrators.
He says: “It is correctly proven from the Ahadith. Even those who are Nasibis attribute it to Hazrat Hasan (رضي الله عنه), because they then also explain that Muawiyah was accepted by Hazrat Hasan. They are liars, fabricators, dirty, impure, criminals, vile, so shameless! The one who had Hazrat Hasan poisoned and killed was Muawiyah and Yazeed. Those dirty, impure people do not ponder over this that Hazrat Hasan used to be in Masjid an-Nabawi and Muawiyah’s governor Marwan, the cursed, the vile, used to hurl abuses at Hazrat Ali. Hazrat Hasan was martyred and when his corpse, with the permission of Hazrat Aisha (رضي الله عنها), began to be taken to be buried near his grandfather, it was the same cursed Marwan (who stopped it). He was cursed, may thousands of curses be upon him who did not let Hazrat Hasan’s corpse be buried near his grandfather. When it was said to him that Aisha says permission is granted, he said: ‘Aisha lies, you lie, we will not let it happen’.
And those who were hypocrites, were criminals, were vile, about whom the Prophet ﷺ said and Imam Bukhari wrote that they were rebels and callers to Hell, their narrations are rejected, their lives, their tongues are rejected, upon them are curses, curses until Qiyamah! And in the gathering of Hashr you will see that about them the Prophet ﷺ will say, when he sees that angels are pushing the Sahaba, the Prophet will say, it is in a Sahih Hadith that the Prophet will say: ‘أصحَابِي أصحَابِي’ Oh these are my companions, these are my companions. So the angels will say: O Prophet! You do not know what actions they committed after you, how oppressive, how cursed, what scoundrels they were! They stopped Ali from water, they stopped Husayn from water, martyred them, martyred your Sahaba, martyred the Tabi’een of your Sahaba, they became apostates, they are cursed. Therefore, they will not be allowed to be present at Hawd al-Kawthar. And whoever were the Tabi’een, Taba’ Tabi’een, and Mullahs, Molvis, Muftis, Qadis who accepted them, all are cursed and none will be able to be present near Hawd al-Kawthar on the day of Hashr.”
The Hadith of Hawd al-Kawthar relates to those people who became apostates immediately after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (like the followers of Musaylima the Liar etc.) or were hypocrites. Applying these Ahadith to the great Sahaba, conquerors, and Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (رضي الله عنه) who participated in the disputes among the Sahaba is the worst and most invalid belief of the Rawafid. Calling the noble Sahaba “apostates” and “cursed” is equivalent to hollowing out the foundations of the religion.
Similarly, the allegation against Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (رضي الله عنه) of martyring Hazrat Hasan (رضي الله عنه) by giving him poison is completely false and based on fabricated, false narrations forged by Shia liar historians like Abu Mikhnaf and Hisham al-Kalbi. All researchers of Ahlus Sunnah, including Allamah Ibn Khaldun, Qadi Abu Bakr ibn al-Arabi, and Hafiz Ibn Kathir, have declared this allegation an explicit lie and slander.
Hazrat Hasan (رضي الله عنه) himself handed over the Caliphate to Hazrat Muawiyah (رضي الله عنه) in the interest of the Ummah, which Nadwi Sahib calls the belief of “fabricators and dirty people,” thereby actually insulting this great decision of Hazrat Hasan (رضي الله عنه), upon which the Prophet ﷺ had praised Hasan (رضي الله عنه) and called him “Sayyid.”
Besides this, he has taunted multiple great and senior Sahaba through hints and implications. For example, he says: In the pursuit of capturing the Caliphate, Hazrat Abu Bakr and Umar openly opposed the Holy Prophet ﷺ during his final moments.

He further says: After the Holy Prophet ﷺ, the rightful heirs to the Caliphate were not Hazrat Abu Bakr and Umar but Hazrat Ali.

He further says: All the Sahaba who marched against Hazrat Ali (which includes Hazrat Talhah, Zubayr, Umm al-Mu’mineen Aisha, Mughirah bin Shu’bah, Amir Muawiyah رضي الله عنهم etc.) are transgressors (fasiq) and their narration and testimony are rejected.

Those who praise the oppressor are themselves oppressors, those who support the oppressor are themselves oppressors, those who support the murderer are themselves murderers, and those who support the criminal and scoundrel are themselves criminals and scoundrels. Whoever took up weapons, fought, or rebelled against the rightly-guided Caliph, Amir al-Mu’mineen Sayyidna wa Imamna Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام), and Sayyida Shabab Ahl al-Jannah Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn and the great noble Sahaba, they were criminals, they were oppressors, and they were murderers. Whoever supports them or praises them is a criminal and a Jahannami. At that time whoever did this was a criminal, in the generations after that whoever did this is a criminal, and today those who are standing with these oppressors, these murderers, these criminals, and these rebels, they too are criminals and will see the outcome of their crimes.
… Those who pained the Prophet, tore the Prophet’s liver apart, riddled his chest, and marched carrying weapons against the Prophet’s beloveds, attacked them, can anyone be more detestable, more wretched, more unfortunate, and a greater criminal than them? Never!
Even after this, if someone finds an excuse, then he is a fabricator of false Ahadith. The Holy Prophet ﷺ had said: ‘Whoever knowingly attributes a false Hadith to me, let him make his abode in Hell’. So whoever forged Ahadith, fabricated false Ahadith regarding these criminals—about whom the decision of the Muhadditheen is that not a single Sahih Hadith is proven regarding their virtue—the dirty, lying, fabricating, scoundrel, and criminal types of people who run their affairs using these false Ahadith and are supporting the murderer, they will not be able to escape from Hell. They are as if announcing that: ‘We too are with this murderer, we too are with the murderer of believers, we too are with the murderers of the Sahaba, we too are with those who abuse them, let our names also be written among them, let our gathering (Hashr) also be with Yazeed, we are Yazeedis. We do not want Husayn.’
Those who are such scoundrels, vile, unfortunate, absurd, and dirty people, obviously they are Jahannami in the world as well and the Hell of the hereafter awaits them. Allah the Exalted says that the right to speak against the oppressor has been given to an oppressed person, that he may speak openly against the oppressor. Therefore, those who say that one should not talk about the disputes, they deceive, speak lies, and are themselves criminals.”
This is a filthy kind of Takfiri Rafidi thinking, under the influence of which Nadwi Sahib is declaring Muawiyah’s (رضي الله عنه) group, which included numerous great and senior Sahaba, as criminals, rebels, murderers, and oppressors etc., and is hurling every kind of abuse such as criminals, murderers, oppressors, liars, deceitful, and Jahannamis at all the Imams and scholars of Ahlus Sunnah. These statements are so clearly false that there is not even a need for their refutation and invalidation.
He says: “‘All Sahaba are sacred, all are just!’ O shameless, immodest people! Deniers of the Prophet, deniers of the Ahadith, ignoramuses, fools! Have some shame at least. It is transmitted from Hazrat Zayd bin Wahb, Hazrat Hudhayfah, and other gentlemen that the Holy Prophet ﷺ had informed Hazrat Hudhayfah (رضي الله عنه) about the hypocrisy of several people among his companions. Therefore, whenever the funeral of any of them arrived, Hazrat Hudhayfah (رضي الله عنه) would not pray his funeral prayer, meaning he would not pray the funeral prayer of a Sahabi.”
Nadwi Sahib has very deceitfully conflated the literal word “As-habi” present in the Ahadith with the Shariah technical term “Sahabi”. According to Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah and the Salaf Saliheen, a “Sahabi” is one who met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a state of faith and whose end was upon this same faith. Hypocrites, no matter if they stayed with the Messenger of Allah, are absolutely not Sahaba in terms of Shariah. Applying companionship (Sahabiyyat) to them is actually a heinous Rafidi tactic to insult and defame the sacred group of the Sahaba.
