The Importance of Nikah in Islam: A Call to Action for Guardians and Youth
NIKKAH is very easy to perform but unfortunately, nowadays ZINNAH, fornication is so much easier and available, and NIKKAH we have made extremely difficult.
Allah Glorified and Exalted has made human bodies in this manner that one needs urges of being close and intimate seeking comfort and company of the opposite sex. Which is why unmarried young people involved in zinnah fornication, especially teenagers are highly vulnerable-who, even want to restrain though, find it too tough to struggle with themselves.
We live in a society of people who honour and respect their backward traditions and cultures and disregard the commands of Allah and the Sunnah traditions of the Messenger (Sallallaahu’alayhi’wasalaam).
It’s a shame that we fail to recognise, understand and ignore the needs of the youth who have reached sexual puberty and have the desire for the opposite gender sex. Even more so what is a bigger problem and a shame is that the guardians those who are supposed to be in charge and responsible know well that Zinnah is so prevalent widely available and it’s been committed in them very own homes and families and yet brush it under the carpet knowing that it’s happening and yet still choose to ignore and remain dumb and oblivious to the needs of the youth and the importance of Nikkah in Islam. Even more so what’s even a bigger terrible tragedy in the western society is families who abandon or drive away push them daughters and sons who have committed Zinnah to leave home get out because of the shame that it will bring on the family therefore sending them into the wild world of sin and destruction evil corruption and satanic influences of sex drugs and music and taking shaytaan as an intimate companion, “not to mention what illnesses this causes”.
Many of the youth have the courage and will address the need for them to be in a Nikkah to save themselves from committing Haram and from Allah’s punishment. The guardians those responsible sadly ignore and disregard their voice that’s calling out for safety from haram and from the hell fire.
A severe warning to those who have opposed the commandments of Allah and his Messenger:
Allah says:
And let those who oppose the Messenger’s (Muhammad ) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements, etc.) beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.
(Surah – An Nur:63)
When we oppose the commands of Allah and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu’Alayhe’Wasallam) then expect a trial of calamity and affliction to befall.
Concerning responsibility and guardianship:
Fear Allah and take responsibility you will be accountable to Allah:
From ‘Umar (Radhiallahu ‘anhu) who said that Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Each of you is a guardian and is responsible for those whom he is in charge of. So the ruler is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects; a man is the guardian of his family and is responsible for those under his care; a woman is a guardian of her husband’s home and is responsible for those under her care; a servant is the guardian of his master’s wealth and is responsible for that which he is entrusted with; and a man is the guardian of his father’s wealth and is responsible for what is under his care. So each one of you is a guardian and is responsible for what he is entrusted with.” –
Reported by Al-Bukhari (Eng. Trans. 9/189/no. 252) and Muslim (Eng. Trans. 3/1017/no. 4496).
The Prophet (Sallallaahu’alayhi’wasalaam) said:
“If a person comes to you to propose a marriage and you are pleased with his religion and morals, then marry him. If you fail to do so, great affliction will take place on earth, and corruption will be widespread.”
