Question: Can a father give zakat to his married daughter if she is very poor and distressed?
Answer: The first point to understand is that a father cannot give zakat to his married daughter, even if she is poor, needy, and in distress. It is obligatory upon the father to assist his daughter from his own wealth if she is in need.
Secondly, if the father is wealthy enough to be eligible to pay zakat, how can he even think of giving zakat to his daughter when he has sufficient wealth? The father should distribute zakat to other deserving individuals, and he should support his needy children from his own wealth.
