Wudu and Jewelry: A Guide for Muslim Women
Question: Is it true that wearing artificial bangles, rings, or ear tips made of iron or steel invalidates ablution (wudu)?
Answer: A woman can wear artificial bangles, rings, or ear tips made from any material, be it iron, brass, glass, gold, or silver. It is permissible for women to wear these items and to pray while wearing them. There is no issue with this in terms of prayer. As far as ablution is concerned, the goal is for water to reach the parts of the body that need to be washed. If the water can reach the skin under the bangle, there is no problem. If not, one should move the bangle so that the water reaches the skin. The same applies to rings; either remove them or move them to let the water reach underneath. There is no issue with ear tips.
