Understanding Menstrual Purity: A Guide for Muslim Women

Menstrual Cycle and Ritual Purity: When to Perform Ghusl and Resume Prayer

Question: I have a stomach issue that causes irregularities in my menstrual cycle. When I go to the washroom, I experience my periods there. If this continues for more than six days, should I consider myself pure and start praying? If after becoming pure, I still see blood when I go to the washroom, should I perform Wudu or Ghusl?

Answer:Some women may not know when they have become pure from menstruation, which can make understanding their menstrual cycle difficult.

Menstruation lasts for a few days. If a woman experiences menstruation for a specific number of days and then becomes completely dry or has white discharge, she should consider herself pure. After this, she should perform Ghusl (ritual bath) and start praying. It is important to note that after becoming pure, any yellowish or reddish discharge will not be considered menstruation.

Regarding the second issue, if a woman experiences menstrual blood for several days and the number of days varies each month, she should consider all these days as menstruation. Once she becomes completely dry or pure, she should perform Ghusl and start praying.

Remember, if you see menstrual blood in the washroom, you are still in menstruation. Once you become completely dry or have white discharge, you are considered pure.
