Question: My friend is going for Umrah this week. She is on her period and will be pure a day after reaching Mecca. Does she need to re-enter Ihram from Masjid Aisha?
Answer: Tell your friend to board the flight with the intention of donning the Ihram. When she reaches the Miqat, she can make the intention for Umrah from the plane itself, and by doing so, she will enter into Ihram, regardless of her menstrual state. It is permissible for her to enter Ihram while in this condition. Once she reaches Mecca and becomes pure, she should perform Ghusl, go to the Haram, and complete her Umrah. There is no need for her to go to Masjid Aisha or any other Miqat because she is already in Ihram and must continue observing the prohibitions of Ihram. It should also be noted that while in Ihram, a woman should not wear a niqab or gloves. From the moment she enters Ihram for Umrah, she must uncover her face but can use a large cloth to cover her head, face, and hands.
