Question: Can one make the intention for Umrah from Masjid Jiranah?
Answer: There are three types of locations for putting on Ihram for Umrah:
1. For those residing in Makkah: They must go outside the boundaries of the Haram and can put on Ihram from any place outside these boundaries. Since Jiranah is outside the Haram boundaries, a resident of Makkah can put on Ihram from Jiranah for Umrah.
2. For those living within the Miqat boundaries: For example, residents of Jeddah can put on Ihram from their place of residence.
3. For those living outside the Miqat boundaries: They must come to their respective Miqat and put on Ihram from there for Umrah.
In summary, only those who live within the Haram boundaries can put on Ihram from Jiranah. Additionally, those who have come from another place and are currently residing within the Haram boundaries, such as someone who has come to Makkah for work or for Umrah, can go to Jiranah or any place outside the Haram boundaries to put on Ihram for another Umrah.
