The Virtues of Seeking Islamic Knowledge: A Path to Wisdom and Paradise
ALLĀH says:
"HE gives wisdom to whom HE wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding." {Al-Baqarah || Verse 269}
Mu’awiyah (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) said, “To whomever ALLĀH wills goodness, HE grants him understanding of the religion." {Al-Bukhari #71, Muslim #1037}
Abu Hurayrah (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "And whoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, ALLĀH will make easy for him a path to Paradise." {Hadith 36, 40 Hadith an-Nawawi}
Mu’adh b. Jabal (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) said: “Learn knowledge. For, learning it for the sake of ALLĀH bring about Taqwā (God-consciousness), seeking it is an act of worship, revising it is an act of glorifying ALLĀH, searching for it is fighting in the way of ALLĀH, teaching it to those who do not know it is an act of charity, and disseminating it to those who deserve it is an act of worship.” {Imam Sa’eed bin Al-Musayyab (Biography) || Page 44}
Shaykh ‘Aidh al-Qarni said: “Knowledge is a light that leads to wisdom. It is life for one’s soul and fuel for one’s character… Happiness and high spiritedness come with enlightenment, because through knowledge, one may fulfill his goals and discover what was previously hidden from him… If you desire happiness, then seek out knowledge and enlightenment, and you will find that anxiety, depression, and grief will leave you.” {Don’t Be Sad || Page 83}
