The Reality of Visiting the Blessed Hair of the Prophet (ﷺ): A Critical Examination

Debunking the Myth of the Prophet’s Hair: A Warning Against Innovation and False Devotion

Question: What is the reality of visiting the blessed hair of the Prophet (ﷺ)?

Answer: Among Sufi and innovator groups, there is a propagation of false love and devotion for the Prophet (ﷺ) under the pretense of visiting his hair. These groups claim to possess the Prophet’s hair in various cities and regions and display them on specific occasions. The truth is that the blessed hair of the Prophet (ﷺ) is not present anywhere in the world. Whoever claims to have the Prophet’s hair is lying and showing a false and fabricated item in its place. You should be aware that this practice is only found among innovators and Sufis. Praise be to Allah, the people of monotheism do not make such false claims. Even in Makkah, where the Prophet (ﷺ) was born, and Madinah, where his blessed grave is located, none of the residents claim to possess the Prophet’s hair. This is because the people of monotheism exercise caution in matters related to the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Do not attribute lies to me, for whoever lies about me will enter Hell.” (Tirmidhi: 2660)
