Understanding the Acceptability of Gifts for Teachers in Islam
Question: I am a teacher in a private school. On the result day, if parents bring gifts or cakes for the teacher, should they be accepted, and can the teacher use these items?
Answer: On the result day, if parents present gifts to the teacher, whether it’s a cake or any other item, there is no harm in the teacher accepting them. Even if children give gifts to the teacher, there is no issue in accepting them on such an occasion. In Islam, giving and receiving gifts is permissible, and since teachers provide services to the students, it is a good thing for parents to appreciate the teacher’s efforts by offering gifts.
