Understanding Tawheed: A Comprehensive Guide to its Divisions

The Three Divisions of Tawheed: Lordship, Worship, and Names and Attributes

Why do we divide Tawheed into three sections ?

In the name of Allah , praise be to Allah , blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah

And after, all our sheikhs and Salaf divided tawheed into two or three parts, and in fact there is no difference between these two divisions.

First, the division into three sections, which is tawheed of lordship, Tawheed of worship, and tawheed of names and attributes. InSha’a Allah , we will explain all of this division in detail, but this is not its place.

Among the scholars are also those who divided tawheed into two parts, the first is the Tahweed of worship, and the second is the tawheed of names and attributes, and this appears more in the words of salaf (the predecessors) . The truth is, there is no difference between these two divisions because in the second division they do not differentiate between the tawheed of lordship and the tawheed of the names and attributes, and on the one hand this is correct, but these divisions are not from the Sharia, but rather they are to facilitate the knowledge of tawheed for Muslims, and for this reason the scholars divided Tawheed with these divisions, and the evidence for that is clear from the Qur’an. There is nothing new in these divisions, as the people of innovations later claimed that we have a new division of tawheed. Rather, this is an old division and a division in which there is no innovation, because we tell you to open the Qur’an and read, By Allah, you will not find anything when talking about tawheed except in these three: Tawheed of lordship, tawheed of worship, and Tawheed of Names and attributes, and the second evidence is the verse, which is (Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, so be patient to worship Him. Do you know someone like him Him? [negative question] ) This is clear in the phrase, meaning, Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, This is the Tawheed of lordship, so be patient to worship Him, This is the Tawheed of worship, Do you know someone similar to Him? This is the tawheed of names and attributes.

Glorified be Allah from what they say(Ahlul Bidah) , because this is clear from the Qur’an.

As for the words of the salaf, you will find in the books of the salaf, for example, the famous sayings of Imam Abu Hanifa, may Allah have mercy on him, that tawheed is divided into two parts: Tawheed of names and attributes and Tawheed of worship. There is no difference between that and as we divided tawheed.

The truth is that you read in the books of the salaf and find the division of tawheed into two or three sections, and this is for convenience only and is not part of the Sharia.

Allah knows best and is the highest.
