Question: My brother-in-law’s daughter was given two divorces by her husband at the same time. Will this divorce be valid?
Answer: If a man gives his wife two divorces at one time, it will count as one divorce. This is known as a revocable divorce (Talaq Raj’i), meaning that if the husband wishes to reconcile, he can do so within the period of three menstrual cycles. If he does not reconcile within this period, the marriage will be dissolved, and the marital bond will end.
