Building a Stronger Connection with Allah through Private Devotion
Remember Him When Alone with Your Thoughts
The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “The strong believer is more beloved to Allāh than the weak believer, but there is goodness in both of them.” Muslim [no. 2664]
This narration is often seen as referring only to physical strength, but it also has a deeper meaning related to the strength of faith [Imān] and the heart.
A strong believer is:
- Firm in faith.
- Steadfast in tough times.
- Patient when tested.
- Trusting in Allāh in all circumstances.
How does someone strengthen their faith?
- One of the best ways is to worship Allāh when alone, which shows true sincerity [Ikhlās]. It reflects pure intention, showing that worship is for Allāh alone, without seeking recognition or praise from others.
- Do not mention your good deeds to anyone.
- Perform good deeds alone as you do when with others.
Action Plan:
Focus on worshipping Allāh in private. Avoid wasting time on social media and concentrate on the Qur’ān and Dhikr.
Have secret deeds known only to Allāh.
Free yourself from traits of hypocrisy by doing good deeds and seeking forgiveness in private, not just when with others..
Ask yourself the real question: How much do I really worship Allāh when alone?
“A small group, firm in their faith and steadfast in their resolve, can overcome the mightiest of forces.”
May Allāh strengthen our hearts with faith and make us among those beloved to Him.
