Is Reserving a Specific Spot in the Mosque Permissible?

Understanding the Rules on Reserving Prayer Spots in Mosques

Question: Is it permissible to reserve a specific spot in the mosque for prayer?

Answer: The entire mosque is a place of worship for Allah, and anyone can pray anywhere in the mosque. It is not permissible to permanently reserve a particular spot for oneself. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) forbade doing so, as narrated by Abdulrahman bin Shibl (Radeyallahu Anhu):

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited to peck like a crow, and to spread (the forearms) like a wild beast, and to fix a place in the mosque like a camel which fixes its place. These are the wordings of Qutaybah.” (Sunan Abu Dawud: 862)

Thus, it is not appropriate for anyone to designate a particular place for themselves in the mosque.
