Reciting Adhkar in a Group: Is it Allowed?
Question: If morning and evening adhkar (remembrances) are recited in a group, is it correct to play videos from YouTube for the adhkar that need to be recited 100 times and follow along?
Answer: Morning and evening adhkar should be recited individually by each person; it is not a collective act to be done in a group. Therefore, if a few women recite the morning and evening adhkar together in a group, it is considered an innovation (bid’ah). Listening to adhkar on YouTube does not count as performing the adhkar. For adhkar, it is necessary to recite them yourself, moving your tongue. Listening to a video is not sufficient, but if you recite along with the video, there is no harm. However, if you have to recite the adhkar yourself, there is no need to play the video.
