Question: Can an adult boy recite the Quran to a non-mahram woman, meaning can he teach her the Quran?
Answer: It is obligatory for a non-mahram woman to observe hijab from an adult boy, and it is also obligatory to avoid being alone with him. Therefore, it is not permissible for a woman to teach a non-mahram adult boy alone.
However, if there is a group of boys and the woman is teaching only by voice, it is permissible. Nevertheless, it is better and preferable to avoid this because it is not a necessity, especially when there are many male scholars available to teach.
Therefore, a woman should teach only women, and a man should teach only men. In cases of necessity, men can teach women and women can teach men, but there are principles and guidelines, and it is essential to adhere to these Islamic boundaries.
