The Islamic Perspective on Recording Grave Videos and the Punishment of the Grave
Question: A girl is recording videos of graves, claiming that the deceased are being punished. Is it possible for humans to see the punishment of the grave, and are such videos permissible?
Answer: It is not permissible for anyone to record videos of graves, showing the deceased being buried or supposedly being punished, or making any movement with the dead. This act is strictly haram. Neither is it permissible to make such videos nor for Muslims to watch them. Recording such things will lead to punishment in the Hereafter. The affairs of the grave belong to the unseen (ghayb), and no one knows what happens there. Even if a person is being punished, we do not know its form or nature. Thus, no one can accurately portray the punishment of the grave in a video. For admonition, we only need the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet (ﷺ). These are sufficient for us to reflect and take lessons.
