The Purity and Honor of Menstruating Women: A Lesson from Sahīh Muslim

6th Lesson From the Book of Menstruation From Sahīh Muslim

بســـم اللــه الرحــمــن الـرحـــيــم

By our Shaykh, the ‘Allāmah, the Trustworthy Advisor, Abū ‘Abdirrahmān Yahya bin ‘Alī Al-Hajūri – may Allāh preserve him –

Chapter: The rest of the (body of the) menstruating woman

14 – (300) Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaibah and Zuhair bin Harb narrated to us both, they said Wakī’ narrated to us, on the authority of Mis’ar and Sufyān, on the authority of Al-Miqdām bin Shurayh, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ā’ishah, she said: “I would drink while I was mestruating then I would give it to the Prophet ﷺ so he would put his mouth the place I put my mouth and drink, and I would extract the meat off a bone whilst I was mestruating then give it to the Prophet ﷺ so he would put his mouth the place I put my mouth.”

🔹 Benefit:

The Prophet ﷺ intentionally doing that to oppose the Jews because they used to not eat and drink with her.

🔹 The Muslim woman is honoured; By this Sharī’ah, if she knows that then what a delight for her; and if she doesn’t know that then verily there are those who wish to strip her of this blessing.

▪️The woman is weak, she remains as a precious stone, safeguarded, from the love of the parents, and the care of the parents, to the honouring of the husband, and mercy of the husband, and love of the husband, till the dutifullness of the children and affection of the children, and the obligation of dutifullness to her, so there is not one more happy than the believing woman amongst her family and children.
