Menstruation and Umrah: What to Do When Traveling from Medina to Mecca

Question: A woman performed Umrah, but she is now menstruating and wants to travel from Medina to Mecca for another Umrah. If her menstruation continues until she returns to Pakistan, should she cross the Miqat without assuming Ihram, or should she make a conditional intention assuming she might become pure?

Answer: If a woman has already performed her Umrah, her primary objective is fulfilled, as performing one Umrah in a single trip is Sunnah. Since she is menstruating, she should not assume Ihram for another Umrah while traveling from Medina to Mecca. This is because once she assumes Ihram, she would need to remain in Mecca under its restrictions until she becomes pure, which could be challenging. In such a scenario, making a conditional intention is not beneficial. Conditional intentions are only applicable if she were pure when assuming Ihram and menstruation started later.
