Exchanging Gifts and Wearing Attire in an Islamic Wedding
Question: Can the groom put a flower garland on the bride and give clothes as a gift?
Answer: There is no harm in exchanging items or clothes as gifts between the two families on the occasion of the wedding. Since a new relationship is being established, giving gifts to strengthen the bond and increase love is permissible.
As for the issue of the groom and bride wearing flower garlands, this is an imitation of non-Muslim customs and has no connection with Islam. Therefore, it should be avoided. During the wedding, the groom and bride can wear fine clothes and use permissible adornments, but they should not imitate non-Muslim customs.
