Fulfilling Obligations for Deceased: Fasting, Prayers, and Hajj Explained

How to Compensate for Missed Fasting, Prayers, and Hajj for the Deceased

Question: A deceased person had missed fasting, prayers, and Hajj due to illness. How should their heirs fulfill these obligations?

Answer: There is no compensation (qada) for missed prayers of a deceased person. During their illness, they were required to perform prayers in any way that was possible for them, and they should not have abandoned them altogether.

However, if Hajj had become obligatory for them but was not performed, one of the heirs who has already completed their own Hajj should perform Hajj on behalf of the deceased, using the deceased’s funds.

As for fasting, there are details to consider, which can be found in my article, “Making up Missed Ramadan Fasts on Behalf of a Deceased Person.” https://islamichelper.com/fidya-for-missed-fasts-after-death/  This will help you understand the correct ruling regarding the deceased’s missed fasts.
