Breastfeeding and Marriage: Understanding the Rules of رضاعت

Does Breastfeeding by a Grandmother Affect Marriage Eligibility for Siblings?

Question: If a child’s maternal grandmother breastfeeds him according to the rules of breastfeeding (رضاعت), can this child’s younger sister marry their maternal aunt’s son? Does the rule of رضاعت apply only to the child who was breastfed by the grandmother, or does it extend to his other siblings as well?

Answer:The issue of رضاعت applies only to the child who was breastfed by the grandmother. The other siblings of this child are exempt from this rule and can marry their maternal aunt’s children. Therefore, the younger sister of the child who was breastfed by the grandmother can marry her maternal aunt’s son.
