How to Distribute an Estate Among a Wife and Children According to Islamic Law

Estate Distribution: Understanding Shares for a Wife, Sons, and Daughters in Islamic Inheritance

Question: A man has a wife, four sons, and four daughters. How will his estate be distributed?  

Answer: In this case, the wife will receive one-eighth, and the sons will receive double the share of the daughters, as Allah says:  

“Allah commands you regarding your children: the share of the male will be twice that of the female.” (Surah An-Nisa: 11)
