Why My Prayers Are Not Being Accepted: Guidance and Solutions

Understanding the Acceptance of Prayers and Supplications in Islam

Question: I am very worried because my prayers are not being accepted. I feel sleepy during prayers and become forgetful and lazy. My supplications are also not being accepted. Please guide me on this matter.

Answer: Our duty is to worship Allah as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did and to supplicate to Him. It is Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, who accepts prayers and supplications. Be assured that any act of worship performed with sincerity and according to the Sunnah is accepted by Allah. All our supplications to Allah are accepted; some may be granted in this world, while many are stored for the Hereafter. None of our supplications go to waste.

Therefore, we should not worry about the acceptance of our prayers or supplications. Continue to worship Allah sincerely and according to the Sunnah, and call upon your Lord with sincerity. Also, avoid actions that nullify our worship, such as associating partners with Allah, as this destroys our deeds.

Sleepiness is not a major issue. Ensure you get adequate sleep at night, and insha’Allah, the problem of sleepiness and the resulting laziness will be resolved.
