Is It Permissible to Deliver Haram Foods? Guidance for Muslim Workers

Working as a Delivery Boy: The Implications of Delivering Haram Items

Delivering Haram Foods and Drinks

Question: A child asked about his friend who has gone abroad and hasn’t started a job related to his field yet. In the meantime, he is working as a delivery boy, which sometimes requires him to deliver haram items such as alcohol, pork, or haram pizza. Is this wrong for him, considering he works at a shop and has to do what the shop owner instructs?

Answer: It is not permissible for a Muslim boy to work as a delivery boy in a place where he has to deliver alcohol, pork, haram pizza, or other haram foods and drinks. Allah has forbidden us from assisting in sinful acts. Allah says:

"Help one another in righteousness and piety, but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty." (Al-Ma'idah: 2)

Therefore, the boy should seek employment where he does not have to assist in delivering haram items. If he encounters a situation where something seems doubtful, he should make an agreement with the shop owner that his work will be in accordance with Islamic conditions and work accordingly.
