The Correct Way to Send Salutations to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Understanding the Difference Between Durood and Shirk: A Guide to Sending Salutations to the Prophet

Question: Can we post a status like this:

(As-Salamu Alaika Ya Rasool Allah, As-Salamu Alaika Ya Nabi Allah, As-Salamu Alaika Ya Khair Khalq Allah, As-Salamu Alaika Ya Habeeb Allah, As-Salamu Alaika Ya Sayyid Al-Mursaleen, As-Salamu Alaika Ya Khatam Al-Nabiyeen)

Answer: In some communities, the Barelvi sect recites “As-Salamu Alaika Ya Rasool Allah” with the belief that the Prophet (PBUH) is alive like us, hears them, and responds. This is why they call upon the Prophet (PBUH) for help. However, such invocations amount to shirk because calling upon anyone other than Allah for help is considered shirk. Moreover, the Prophet (PBUH) has passed away and does not hear us or respond. Therefore, refrain from posting such statuses to avoid causing misunderstandings. Instead, you can post the Durood-e-Ibrahimi, which will bring reward and encourage others to recite salutations upon the Prophet (PBUH).
