Is It Valid to Join Congregational Prayer from Home Near a Mosque? A Detailed Explanation

Is Joining Congregational Prayer from Home Valid? What You Need to Know

Question: If someone’s house is in front of a mosque and the congregational prayer is being held in the mosque, can they form a row in their house and join the congregation, similar to how people in hotels near the Haram form prayer rows in their rooms and join the congregation due to the crowd? Is their prayer valid? Can we use this as evidence to join the mosque congregation from homes near the mosque?

Answer: Whoever told you that one can follow the Imam of the Haram while staying in hotels near the Haram and that their prayer will be valid is incorrect. To follow the Imam of the Haram, it is necessary to pray inside the Haram itself and be connected in the rows. Those who pray in hotels near the Haram while following the Imam are not performing a valid prayer.

Similarly, just as the prayer of those praying in hotels near the Haram is not valid, it is also not valid to pray in a house near a mosque while following the Imam of the mosque.
