Understanding a Wife’s Options in Cases of Infidelity and Deceit

Navigating Infidelity: A Wife’s Rights and Responsibilities

Question: A woman found many chats with girls on her husband’s mobile. Her husband gives false names, fake income, and false addresses to these girls, promising to marry them. He engages in sexual conversations and sometimes meets them, as there are chats about meeting and committing adultery with one or two girls. Later, he makes excuses and leaves the girls by lying to them about not being able to marry them. When the wife saw all this and informed her in-laws, the husband claimed that the messages were not his, but from others, saying it was a linked device and others were chatting from his phone. He said all these phones are used for his business, and he only has one personal phone. He claimed that the whole team does this work to get their job done by the girls and that they do not cross their limits, meaning they do not commit adultery. He then accused his wife of falsely blaming him. In such a situation, can the wife take a divorce and file a police case against her husband? Can she tell all the girls the truth about her husband and give them his address so they can take revenge on him? Will the wife be sinful for doing this?

Answer:If the husband is indeed involved in such activities as described, the wife has certain responsibilities.

In the first stage, she should warn him of Allah’s punishment and advise him to desist. If he promises to stop, that is good. Otherwise, she should seek a decision through good people, explaining everything and encouraging him to repent.

If these measures do not lead to reform, the wife can separate from him. There is no need to file a police case because there is no justice in police cases nowadays. False testimonies, fake evidence, and money speak louder. The husband might even use money to trap the wife, as this is common in the police department today. Therefore, there is no need to give the girls his number and address. Her duty is to advise and make him understand through people and separate herself from his evil.

If the wife wants, she can take social action against him to protect other women from his evil, but only if she has solid evidence and confidence. She should refrain from such actions based on mere suspicion or uncertain knowledge.
