Question: A man had car insurance and died in an accident. After his death, his friend helped his family to get the insurance money. For four years, the family has been receiving money monthly from the insurance, and they are living off this money. Are the insurance money haram, and will the friend who helped the family get the money be sinful?
Answer: The money received from the car insurance by the deceased’s family is permissible for them to use. As for the friend who helped in getting the insurance money, he is not sinful. In fact, it is considered a form of assistance to those in need.
