Question:Is this hadith authentic? Abdullah ibn Abbas (Radeyallahu Anhu) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about whom we should keep company with. He replied: “The person who reminds you of Allah when you see him, increases your knowledge when he speaks, and reminds you of the Hereafter by his actions.” (Reported by al-Bazzar)
Answer: Sheikh Al-Albani rahimahullah graded this hadith as weak and included it in his series of weak hadiths. The exact words are: “The best of your companions is the one who reminds you of Allah when you see him, increases your knowledge when he speaks, and reminds you of the Hereafter by his actions.” (Silsilah al-Da’eefah: 2830)
