Is the Hadith About Rewards for Reciting the Quran Authentic?

Authenticity of the Hadith on Rewards for Listening to the Quran

Question: Is the following hadith authentic: “Abu Huraira (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever listens to one verse from the Book of Allah, a multiplied reward will be written for him, and whoever recites it, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection’”?

Answer: This narration is found in Al-Jami’ al-Saghir as follows: “Whoever listens to one verse from the Book of Allah, a multiplied reward will be written for him, and whoever recites a verse from the Book of Allah, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection.” However, Shaykh Al-Albani (RA) has classified this hadith as weak in Da’if al-Jami (Hadith No. 5408), meaning it is not an authentic hadith.
