Forgot to Wipe Over Socks During Wudu? Understanding the Validity of Ablution
Question: If someone performs ablution (wudu) and forgets to wipe over their socks at the appropriate time, but remembers after a while and then wipes over the socks, will the ablution be valid, or will it need to be repeated?
Answer: One of the conditions of ablution is to wash the parts of the body consecutively. If there is a delay between washing the parts during ablution, then the ablution must be performed again. However, if the delay is not too long, immediately wiping over the socks will suffice, and there will be no need to repeat the ablution. For wiping (masah) to be valid, it is necessary that the hands are not wiped dry but rather moistened with water before wiping over the outer part of the socks.
