Question: What is the ruling on listening to Tariq Masood?
Answer: Maulana Tariq Masood is a scholar from the Deobandi school of thought and delivers his speeches according to his sect’s beliefs, meaning he does not provide rulings based on the Quran and Sunnah but follows his school of thought and shares the fatwas of his Imam. An ordinary person should not listen to such scholars because by listening to them, they may start following blind imitation (taqlid). We have been commanded by Allah and His Messenger to follow the Quran and Hadith, so we should listen to scholars who invite towards the Quran and Hadith.
