Question: Can one marry the wife of a foster son?
Answer: It is permissible to marry the wife of a foster son because the relationship of fosterage (رضاعت) does not affect the permissibility of marriage, except in the case of direct lineage (مصاہرت). Sheikh Muhammad Salih Al-Munajjid explains that fosterage does not impact the rules of marriage. Therefore, a man is not prohibited from marrying the wife of his foster son, just as a foster son is not prohibited from marrying the wife of his foster father. This is based on the Quranic verse:
“And [also prohibited to you are] the wives of your sons who are from your [own] loins.” (An-Nisa: 23)
Since the foster son is not from his loins, his wife is not prohibited for the foster father due to foster care.
