Abortion in Islam: When is Isqat-e-Haml Allowed?

What is the Shariah ruling on abortion? Is it ever allowed before or after 120 days? Can it be done if ultrasound shows the baby has disabilities? Detailed fatwa explains: abortion is generally haram and equivalent to murder after ensoulment (120 days). Before 40–120 days some scholars permit only for extreme necessity (danger to mother’s life). Abortion due to fetal defects is NOT permissible according to major scholars including Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi – the child’s life is sacred regardless of disability. Full explanation with Quran, authentic hadiths (Bukhari & Muslim), and contemporary fatwas from IslamQA & Saudi scholars.
