Eating Food Prepared with Interest-Based Loan: Is it Sinful?

Understanding the Ruling on Interest-Based Loans and Family Dependents

Question: My father has taken a loan under a government scheme. The food in our house is being prepared with that money. Since I am dependent on him, I have to eat that food. Will I be sinful for this?

Answer: It is not permissible for a Muslim to take an interest-based loan, as it involves cooperation with interest. As for the wife and children in the household, they are excused in this matter. The primary sinner is the one who took the interest-based loan under the government scheme. The wife and children are not partners in this sin.

If a mistake has been made once, the wife should warn her husband against repeating it in the future. She should explain the seriousness and sinfulness of this act to prevent him from doing it again.
