Does Breastfeeding a Baby for Five Days Establish Rada’ah (Breastfeeding Relationship)?

Is Breastfeeding Five Times Enough to Establish Rada’ah for a Baby Girl?

Question: If a woman breastfeeds a four or five-month-old baby girl for only five days and then the baby goes back to her mother, does this establish the breastfeeding relationship (Rada’ah)?

Answer: If a four or five-month-old baby girl is breastfed five times over five days, this establishes the breastfeeding relationship (Rada’ah). There is no issue if the baby then goes back to her mother. For Rada’ah, it is sufficient for the baby to breastfeed five times during infancy. It does not matter where the baby stays afterward.
