Those who act as a bridge to innovation are more dangerous than the innovators themselves
Sheikh Yahya ḥafidhahullāh would refer to such people as a “همزة وصل” to the innovators
Ibn ’Awn raḥimahullāh said:
«من يجالس أهلَ البدع أشدُّ علينا من أهل البدع»
“One who associates with the people of innovation is more severe to us than the people of innovation themselves.”
[الإبانة (٢/٤٧٣)]
Abu Al-Faraj Ibn Al-Jawzi raḥimahullāh said:
«زَنَادِقَةُ الإِسْلَامِ ثَلَاثَةٌ: ابْنُ الرَّاوَنْدِي، وَأَبُو حَيَّانَ التَّوْحِيدِي، وَأَبُو العَلاءِ المعَرِّي، وَأَشَدُّهُمْ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ أَبُو حَيَّانَ؛ لَأَنها صَرَّحَا، وَهُو تَجْمَجَ وَلَمْ يُصَرْحُ»
“The leading heretics in Islam are three: Ibn Ar-Rāwandi, Abū Ḥayyān At-Tawḥīdi, and Abū Al-A’lā Al-Ma’arri. Of these, the most harmful to Islam is Abū Ḥayyān, as the others were open in their views, while he concealed his intentions and was not as explicit.”
