A Powerful Dua for Seeking Allah’s Pleasure and Longing to Meet Him
Question: Is this supplication authentic: “O Allah, I ask You for the pleasure of looking at Your face and the longing to meet You”?
Answer: This is actually a part of a longer supplication, and it is an authentic supplication. It is mentioned in several books and has been declared authentic by Sheikh Albani. It is narrated in Sunan An-Nasa’i as follows:
“O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know that life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know that death is better for me. I ask You for fear of You in private and in public, and I ask You for the word of truth in times of contentment and anger. I ask You for continuous blessings, and I ask You for the delight of looking at Your face and the longing to meet You. I seek refuge in You from harmful trials and misleading tribulations. O Allah, adorn us with the beauty of faith and make us guides who are rightly guided.” (Sunan An-Nasa’i: 1307)
