Is “Allah Hu” a Valid Form of Dhikr in Islam?

Understanding Authentic Dhikr: Separating Fact from Innovation

Question: Can we recite “Allah Hu” as a form of Dhikr (remembrance)?

Answer: “Allah Hu” is not a recognized form of Dhikr. It is an artificial practice introduced by Sufis and innovators, and reciting it does not bring any reward because the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not teach us such a form of Dhikr, nor should Dhikr be done in such an incomplete manner. Among Sufis, there is the practice of reciting “Allah Allah” and “Hu Hu,” but these are not valid forms of Dhikr. The valid forms of Dhikr are those that Allah and His Messenger have informed us about, such as saying “Allahu Akbar,” “Subhan Allah,” “Alhamdulillah,” and “La ilaha illallah.” You can refer to more authentic forms of Dhikr under the category of Masnoon Dhikr (prescribed remembrances).
