When I was 10 years old, my father passed away. At that time, our financial situation was very difficult. My mother tried to remarry because we were in need of support, but since we were Hindus, and in Hinduism, widows are often considered inauspicious, she couldn’t get married.
There was a Muslim family in our area, and one of their relatives, an uncle who was also divorced, proposed to my mother for marriage. After a lot of discussions, my mother agreed to marry a Muslim, and both of us were ready to convert to Islam. However, our family and relatives opposed it and pressured us not to go through with it, so the marriage didn’t happen.
Since then, I began learning more about Islam. I learned that marrying a widow or divorced woman is a Sunnah (a practice of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him), and that idol worship is forbidden.
Iām also very eco-friendly, and I realized that all Islamic festivals are eco-friendly, unlike many of the festivals we celebrated, which caused a lot of harm to nature through pollution, noise, and water contamination. All these factors made me interested in Islam, and I started watching Islamic videos. Finally, I decided that I wanted to become a Muslim. And I’ve personally learnt a lot from Doctor Zakir Naik and because of Him i was convinced for Islam from heart and mind.
Now Islam is the only wish i have for my mother. May Allah chose and guide her
