Layering Socks and Wiping Over Them in Ablution: Is it Permissible?
Question: It is cold in my area. I wore socks after performing ablution for the Isha prayer. Due to the cold, I layered another pair of socks over the first. After praying Isha, I performed ablution again and prayed the voluntary and Witr prayers before bed. Then, I removed one pair of socks but forgot to wash my feet during ablution for Fajr and instead wiped over the remaining socks. What is the ruling regarding my ablution and prayer?
Answer: The condition for wiping over socks is that they must be worn after performing ablution. Since you performed ablution, wore the socks, and then wiped over them, there is no issue. Your ablution and the Fajr prayer performed with it are valid, and there is no need to repeat the prayer. Layering one pair of socks over another is permissible, and removing one pair does not affect the validity of wiping over the remaining socks.
