Is It Obligatory to Cut a Tree or Vine Due to Neighbor’s Complaint?

Addressing Neighbor’s Complaints: Should You Cut Your Tree or Vine If Leaves Fall Into Their House?

Question: Can you cut down your green tree or vine at the neighbor’s request because some leaves fall into their house?

Answer: If something you do or own causes discomfort to someone, you should remove that discomfort. Address your neighbor’s complaint and discomfort; it is your duty. This could mean cutting the tree, trimming the branches, or cleaning the leaves from your neighbor’s house—whatever resolves the issue. Live harmoniously and avoid anything that causes your neighbor discomfort, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade causing harm to neighbors.
