Should You Say “Alhamdulillah” or Respond to Greetings During Prayer? Islamic Ruling

Is It Allowed to Say “Alhamdulillah” or Respond to Greetings During Prayer?

Question: If one sneezes during prayer, should they say “Alhamdulillah”? Can they respond to a greeting or to someone else’s sneeze? This is mentioned in Iqbal Kilani’s book “Fazail Quran Majeed” and there is also a hadith about it.

Answer: If you sneeze during prayer, you can quietly say “Alhamdulillah” in your heart, but other worshippers should not respond to it. Similarly, if someone greets you during prayer, you can respond with a gesture, but verbally responding during prayer is prohibited.
