Can a Woman with Uterine Stitches Pray and Fast?

Ruling on Prayer and Fasting for Women with Uterine Stitches and Bleeding

Question: A woman has stitches in her uterus, causing blood to come from her private parts. Is it permissible for her to pray and fast?

Answer: The first issue is whether the blood coming from the private parts is within the period of postpartum bleeding (nifas). If this blood is from postpartum bleeding, the woman should refrain from praying and fasting until she is purified from nifas.

However, if the blood is not within the nifas period and is only due to the stitches causing the wound to bleed, then she is allowed to pray and fast. In this case, the woman should clean the blood-stained area before each prayer, then wear a sanitary pad, perform ablution (wudu), and pray. She should repeat this cleaning and ablution process before each prayer.
