How to Make Up Witr Prayer During the Day: A Guide to Correct Practice

How to Pray Witr if Missed at Night: Steps and Guidelines for Making Up Witr During the Day

Question: If one cannot pray Witr at night, how many rak’ahs should be prayed at the time of Ishraq, considering my habit is to pray three rak’ahs of Witr? Will there be two Tashahhuds and the Du’a Qunoot? Please provide details.

Answer: According to the correct opinion, Witr prayer is not obligatory, and it can be performed any time after Isha until before Fajr. If someone does not expect to wake up in the last part of the night, they should perform Witr after Isha. If someone is unable to perform Witr at night, they can make up for it during the day. When making up for Witr, one should perform an even number of rak’ahs. For example, if someone usually prays three rak’ahs of Witr, they should pray four rak’ahs during the day, in sets of two rak’ahs each, and there is no need to recite Du’a Qunoot.
