Balancing Iddah Obligations with Work Commitments: A Islamic Perspective
Question: There is a woman whose daughter has obtained Khula (divorce initiated by the wife). She works at a school. The school is not granting her leave for the Iddah (waiting period), and the leave is available only after a month. If she loses her job, how will she manage her expenses?
Answer: The Iddah for Khula is one menstrual cycle, and it is obligatory for the woman who has obtained Khula to observe it. As for the girl who is working and is not getting leave to observe her Iddah, and if she observes Iddah without leave, she will lose her job, in such a situation, she can work during the Iddah because this is a case of necessity.
