Spreading the Message of Islam: A Universal Responsibility
Question: Alhamdulillah, I am fulfilling the duty of Dawah (inviting others to Islam) to the best of my ability. Socially, I maintain relationships with everyone, including Deobandi women. They want me to do Dawah among them as well. Is it correct to do so, knowing that I am Ahl-e-Hadith and will be inviting according to the Salafi methodology, and they have no objection to our statements? I need guidance on this matter.
Answer: Islam is for all of humanity, so whenever we get an opportunity to present the truth, we should present our Dawah to those people. In fact, we should make an effort to spread the message of Islam among Deobandis, Barelvis, Hindus, Christians, and all other people. There is no harm in this; rather, it is a requirement of our religion and Islam, and it is our responsibility.
Many of us think that if we have given Dawah to Ahl-e-Hadith, our duty is fulfilled. This is not the case. The Dawah of Ahl-e-Hadith is the Dawah of the Quran and Hadith, and it should not be limited to the Ahl-e-Hadith community alone but should be for all people without discrimination. Therefore, to the extent possible, spread your Dawah to others.
Additionally, while doing Dawah among women, it is extremely important to adhere to the Islamic dress code and boundaries, and to avoid places of fitnah (temptation). For example, there should be no mixing of men and women, the place of Dawah should be safe and secure for women, and there should be restrictions on taking pictures or videos of the gathering to prevent misuse on social media.
